Our flagship offering and the fullest expression of the 2019 vintage, ERA is a time capsule of our finest vineyards and barrel selections. With renowned winemaking consultant Andy Erickson’s fingerprints all throughout the blending process, ERA 2019 is perhaps our finest vintage to date. This will truly make a statement among your cellar treasures.
Planted by Napa pioneer Hamilton Crabb in 1868, To Kalon Vineyard is known for the depth of its rocky, well-drained alluvial soil and grapes with ample tannins and bright, natural acidity. Our different blocks include several sections with very high plant density providing natural shade from the afternoon sun resulting in wines with great structure balanced by an inviting fruitiness.
We’ve held the Sacrashe Vineyard in high regard for many years. Perched above the Napa Valley floor, this extraordinary site is coveted by winemakers and heralded by critics as a Rutherford crown jewel. With renowned winemaking consultant Andy Erickson on board to craft the final blend, Sacrashe 2019 will undoubtedly become a piece of Alpha Omega history.
Thomas Vineyard, on a hillside west of Highway 29 at the northernmost point of Rutherford, was recently acquired by Alpha Omega and is named after its former owner, Don Thomas. This early-ripening site boasts soil that is rocky and has a higher sand content than on the valley floor. The result is a powerful wine with an elegant balance of structure and density. This site is set up as a vineyard laboratory with the latest technology to monitor the weather and water. This early-ripening site, paired with an early vintage like 2016, produced small, highly extractable berries which translated into a denser, more powerful wine.
The pinnacle of our Chardonnay program, our rare Reserve bottling undergoes the same meticulous and painstaking selection process that produces our ERA. Each vintage, our winemaking team goes through all individual lots in the cellar multiple times, carefully evaluating every single barrel to cultivate the finest Chardonnay Reserve cuvée. Guided by credence and expression of the vintage, only the most extraordinary barrels make the rigorous cut. Limited Availability.
Toyon Vineyard is a rarity in Carneros in that it has slopes. Much of the sprawling Carneros AVA is flat along the San Pablo Bay, but a special 10-acre parcel tucked back against the forest is its own little hillside cru. Neighboring Larry Hyde's esteemed vineyard, our Toyon estate vines are nearing 25-years old, the "sweet spot" for winemakers balancing a vine's energy and maturity. It's always one of our favorite sites for consistently stunning Chardonnay fruit.
Tucked away from sight from the bustle of the Valley floor, Drew Vineyard is a throwback to classic Napa hillside muscle. 30+ year-old Chardonnay vines grown here on 1400-foot slopes produce some of our finest Chardonnay grapes. That much is on full display with our latest release, a classic balance of opulent ripeness and a vein of minerality that freshens and enlivens the palate. This is a reminder that mountain fruit – especially Chardonnay – is its own category of winegrowing.
