"In 2017, a mild spring was followed by a summer of heat spikes. during a labor day weekend heatwave, 110 degree-temperatures spiked sugar levels and prompted some vineyard crews to begin harvesting red varietals. our winemakers held steadfast, waiting to harvest our red varietals the first week of October, and were rewarded with a cooler climate resulting in sugar levels returning to normal. This vintage of ERA introduces Sleeping Lady Vineyard, a cooler site in Yountville. This vineyard’s proximity to San Pablo Bay along with its lyre trellising canopy management protects the fruit from sun exposure and thus maintains acidity. sleeping lady delivered the acidity and ripeness needed to help make ERA 2017 a cellar must."
