Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville 2022

Retail: $170.00 | Wine Club: $136.00
VINTAGE NOTES
Significant rain in December and relatively dry, mild conditions through March created an early bud break. Alternating periods of warm and cool weather after March led to steady summer conditions that prevailed until the first week of September when temperatures rose significantly. Cooler weather after the heat spell allowed our hillside and south valley vineyards to recover from the heat and were harvested in great condition. Overall quality is excellent with wines showing a broad spectrum of aromas and flavors.
VINEYARD SOURCES
Located immediately south and east of the town of Napa, Coombsville is named for Nathan Coombs, a California pioneer and State Assemblyman best known for laying out and founding the city of Napa in 1848 at the age of 22. Rolling hills are dominant in the Coombsville AVA with altitudes that reach almost 1,900 feet on the slopes of Mt. George. Volcanic ash from Mt. George and the alluvial flows that followed have created gravelly loam and rocky volcanic soils with ideal drainage, enhanced by the daily cooling winds of San Pablo Bay that makes this region ideal for all five Bordeaux varieties.
WINEMAKER NOTES
Our winemakers blended 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot to create this vibrant expression of Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was fermented in 50% French oak, 40% new and 60% two and three-year old-barriques and 50% in stainless steel tanks followed by aging for 19 months in French oak in the same barrel composition.
NOSE: Bright fruit aromas of dark cherry, raspberry and plum accented by notes of black olive, savory herbs, anise and purple flowers.
PALATE: Medium full bodied, fresh flavors of cranberry and boysenberry are mixed with notes of dark earth and cocoa.
