VINTAGE NOTES
2023 is an exceptional vintage marked by one of the longest growing seasons in over a decade. Significant winter rains followed by a warm dry spring supported healthy canopy growth through bloom. Cooler weather prevailed throughout the rest of the growing season aided by abundant sunshine that enabled grapes to ripen slowly and reach perfect maturity. The long growing season and extended “hang time” for grapes has produced wines with stunning, complex flavors and the structure for long term aging.
VINEYARD SOURCES
Yountville’s southerly location in the Napa Valley takes advantage of cool winds from Carneros and extended fog cover during the day that makes this region ideal for steady ripening of red grapes. Most vineyards are planted on the valley floor with gravelly silt loams and gravelly alluvial soils. The southwestern corner of the Yountville AVA and the foothills of the Mayacamas, was the primary source of grapes for this vintage.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE: Blackberry, black cherry and strawberry aromas are enhanced by notes of wet asphalt, and vanilla.
PALATE: Concentrated plum, blackberry and black tea are complemented by notes of dark cocoa, leading to a long finish.
