THE VINEYARD
A shining star in the Carneros AVA, Hudson Vineyards is located halfway between Sonoma and Napa on Highway 121. Named after celebrated grape grower Lee Hudson, who purchased the 2,000 acre-property in 1981, Hudson Vineyards overlaps the historic Talcoa Vineyards, one of Napa’s most famous vineyards in the late 1880’s. Punctuated by rolling hills and shallow, rocky soils, the vineyard is cooled by daily winds from San Pablo Bay that produces extraordinary grapes sold to a handful of top wineries.
THE VINTAGE
Significant winter rains provided healthy soil moisture and excellent canopy growth in spring. Steady weather during bud break and bloom led to a warmer than usual summer, but soil moisture and healthy vines helped cope with the warmer temperatures. The summer heat was a key factor in accelerating grapes to perfect ripeness and provided a steady harvest schedule. A classic Napa Valley vintage, 2024 white wines have a captivating ripe fruit character, with exceptional balance and length.
WINEMAKER NOTES
Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Fermentation: 50% barrel fermented in French oak puncheons, 15% new, 35% Stainless Steel tanks, 15% Amphora
Aging: 6 months in 15% French oak puncheons,15% new, 15% French acacia barrels, 70% Stainless Steel tanks
Visual: Medium light yellow with greenish highlights
Nose: Fresh aromas of green apple, kumquat and kiwi with notes of green peas, white pepper and white flowers
Palate: Medium bodied flavors of lemon lime, white peach, passion fruit, guava and red bell pepper framed by bright acidity.
