Alpha Omega Winery Hosts the Land Trust of Napa County’s 2022 Cornerstone Society Gathering

A recent photo feature in the Napa Valley Register’s Faces and Places captured a meaningful evening at Alpha Omega Winery: the Land Trust of Napa County’s 2022 Cornerstone Society Gathering, held on September 24, 2022, right here on our Rutherford estate.

Robin Baggett, Board Vice-Chair of the Land Trust of Napa County, and his wife Michelle welcomed Cornerstone Society members and guests to the winery for an evening of connection, gratitude, and shared purpose. Photographer Megan Reeves captured Robin and Michelle raising a glass alongside their guests. It was a moment that reflects something at the very heart of Alpha Omega: the belief that this land is worth protecting, and that the people who love it deserve to gather in its presence.

A Gathering Rooted in Place

There is something fitting about hosting a land conservation celebration at a working estate vineyard on the Rutherford Bench. The Mayacamas Mountains frame the western horizon. The landmark fountains catch the afternoon light. The vines that surround the property are a living expression of what the Land Trust exists to protect.

For Robin and Michelle, this is not a ceremonial role. Robin serves as Board Vice-Chair of the Land Trust of Napa County, an organization dedicated to permanently preserving the agricultural lands, open spaces, and natural habitats that define this valley. His involvement is a reflection of values the Baggetts have held since founding Alpha Omega in 2006. The land is not simply a resource. It is a responsibility.

Indeed, that sense of stewardship shapes every decision made at Alpha Omega, from how the estate vineyards are farmed to how the winery operates day to day. Alpha Omega is Napa Green certified for both land and winery practices. The estate runs almost entirely on solar power. Cover crops nourish the soil between vine rows. These are not marketing points. They are the natural expression of people who understand that great wine begins with a healthy, living landscape.

The Land Trust of Napa County and Why It Matters

The Land Trust of Napa County has been working for decades to ensure that Napa Valley’s agricultural heritage endures. Through conservation easements and land acquisitions, the organization permanently protects farmland and open space from development. Its work is quiet, patient, and profound.

The Cornerstone Society represents the Land Trust’s most committed supporters. These are individuals and families who understand that the character of a place, its soils, its climate, its agricultural rhythms, does not sustain itself without intentional care. Gathering them at Alpha Omega, on a working estate vineyard that exemplifies the very farmland the Land Trust protects, was a natural and meaningful choice.

Furthermore, events like this remind us that conservation and community are inseparable. The people in that room share a common commitment: to leave this valley more intact than they found it.

Robin and Michelle Baggett: A Family Committed to Napa Valley

Robin and Michelle Baggett have built Alpha Omega as more than a winery. They have built it as a community institution. Robin’s role with the Land Trust is one thread in a broader fabric of civic engagement. The Baggetts have also served as Honorary Chairs of Auction Napa Valley, supported cancer research through the V Foundation Wine Celebration, contributed to performing arts education through Festival Napa Valley, and led the winery’s annual Season of Giving Toy Drive, which has delivered more than 1,800 toys to children in need since 2017.

Experience the Estate for Yourself

The same setting that welcomed Land Trust Cornerstone Society members in September is open to guests year-round. Alpha Omega’s Rutherford estate sits at 1155 Mee Lane, just off Highway 29 between Rutherford and St. Helena. Walk-ins are welcome when availability allows. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome on the estate. Families with children are also warmly received.

The estate’s fountains, tranquil pond, and sweeping views of the Mayacamas Mountains create an atmosphere that guests consistently describe as resort-like, yet genuinely relaxed. Above all, it is a place where the beauty of the land and the quality of what grows from it speak for themselves.

We invite you to reserve a tasting at our Rutherford estate and experience firsthand why so many guests say they could stay all day.

Become Part of the Alpha Omega Family

For those who want a deeper connection to this place and the wines it produces, joining the Alpha Omega Wine Club is the natural next step. Members receive curated shipments of handcrafted, terroir-driven wines, access to exclusive member events on the estate, and the kind of ongoing relationship with the winery that mirrors the community spirit at the heart of everything we do.

This land is worth celebrating. We are grateful to everyone who gathers here to do exactly that.

Cheers,
Robin and Michelle Baggett, Founders and Vintners
