AFAR Names Alpha Omega One of the Best Wineries for Scenery in Napa Valley
Alpha Omega Winery was featured in AFAR Magazine as one of the best wineries for scenery in Napa Valley. The original article, “Where to Go Winetasting in Napa Valley,” was written by Jessie Beck and published on June 6, 2022.
Some wineries earn recognition for their wines alone. Others earn it for the experience they create around every pour. When AFAR Magazine set out to identify the best wineries for scenery in Napa Valley, Alpha Omega earned its place on that list for both.
The recognition is genuine, and it reflects something we have worked hard to build since Robin and Michelle Baggett founded this estate in 2006. From the landmark fountains at the entrance to the shaded outdoor patio overlooking our vineyards and the sweeping Mayacamas Mountains beyond, the setting here was designed to slow you down and draw you in.
A Setting That Earns Its Place on the List
AFAR described Alpha Omega as “picturesque and keen on sustainability,” specifically noting our use of the area’s largest commercial solar microgrid. That detail matters to us. Beauty and responsibility are not in tension here. They are part of the same commitment.
The estate sits at 1155 Mee Lane, just off Highway 29 in Rutherford, between St. Helena and Yountville. Our landmark fountain has become something of a local icon in the valley, and for good reason. It signals an arrival, a moment of transition from the road into something quieter and more deliberate.
Outdoor tastings unfold on a shaded patio with views of the fountain and the surrounding vineyards. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring those same views indoors for guests who prefer a more intimate setting. Either way, the landscape is never far from your glass.

Sustainability as a Point of Pride, Not Just a Practice
AFAR’s nod to our sustainability commitment reflects something central to who we are. Alpha Omega operates almost entirely on solar power. We are Napa Green certified for both our land and our winery, a dual distinction that very few estates hold.
Our farming practices go beyond certification. Cover crops, water conservation, and a deep respect for the soils we steward are woven into every decision we make in the vineyard. The land we work with is irreplaceable. We treat it accordingly.

The Wines in the Glass Are the Point
A stunning estate deserves wines that hold their own. AFAR noted that Alpha Omega pours a range of varietals using grapes from appellations throughout Napa Valley. That breadth is intentional.
Our winemaking team sources from some of the valley’s most celebrated sites: Beckstoffer To Kalon in Oakville, Beckstoffer Georges III in Rutherford, and our own 1155 estate vineyard just steps from the tasting room. Head Winemaker Melissa Paris brings a terroir-specific sensibility to every wine, drawing out the distinct character of each sub-appellation rather than blending it away.
From the volcanic soils of Atlas Peak at nearly 2,000 feet in the Vaca Mountains to the dense forest floors of Mount Veeder in the southern Mayacamas range, each AVA leaves its mark on the wine. That specificity is what makes the flights here worth tasting slowly.
As Melissa has said of the wines she crafts: “Steeped in the essence of its legendary terroir, this Cabernet Sauvignon is a masterpiece of power and grace that captivates from the first sip to the last.”

A Place That Welcomes Everyone
The estate at Alpha Omega is designed to feel genuinely welcoming. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome on the grounds. Children are welcome too, with appropriate supervision. Walk-ins are accommodated when availability allows, though a reservation ensures the experience you deserve.
Tastings here are customizable, with fully flexible flights that let you build your own exploration of the portfolio. There is no prescribed path. You follow your palate.
That spirit of warmth and ease is something Robin and Michelle Baggett have cultivated from the beginning. Learn more about our family-owned winery and the vision that has guided every decision made here since 2006.
Come See What AFAR Recognized
Recognition from a publication as thoughtful as AFAR is meaningful to us. It reflects years of intention poured into this estate: the landscaping, the wines, the sustainability commitments, and above all, the warmth that greets every guest who walks through our gates.
Napa Valley offers no shortage of beautiful places to taste wine. We believe Alpha Omega offers something rarer: a setting where the beauty, the craft, and the sense of belonging all arrive at once.
We would love to share it with you in person.
