Cabernet Sauvignon Oak Knoll 2023
VINTAGE NOTES
2023 is an exceptional vintage marked by one of the longest growing seasons in over a decade. Significant winter rains followed by a warm, dry spring supported healthy canopy growth through bloom. Cooler weather prevailed throughout the rest of the growing season, aided by abundant sunshine that enabled grapes to ripen slowly and reach perfect maturity. The long growing season and extended “hang time” for grapes have produced wines with stunning, complex flavors and the structure for long-term aging.
VINEYARD SOURCES
Just north of the city of Napa, the Oak Knoll District is one of Napa Valley’s widest, valley floor appellations. One of the first regions to plant vinifera varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1860’s, the region is dominated by one large alluvial fan extending from the mouth of Dry Creek. Oak Knoll’s proximity to San Pablo Bay makes it one of the coolest AVAs in the Napa Valley. The combination of cooler weather and the vineyards we farm in the rocky, western part of the Oak Knoll District results in a long growing season that produces rich, full-flavored Cabernet Sauvignon.
WINEMAKING
For the 2023 vintage, our winemakers blended 95% Cabernet Sauvignon with 5% Petit Verdot for additional structure. These grapes were fermented in 85% French oak barriques, of which 80% were new and 15% in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then aged for 18 months in French oak barriques, of which 30% were new.

SIGHT: Opaque ruby
NOSE: Intriguing aromas of red plum and cassis, mixed with potpourri, fig newton, mahogany, and dark earth
PALATE: Medium full bodied, rich flavors of cassis and raspberry accented by cardamon, cinnamon and black olive
