THE VINTAGES
2021: Late winter rains and ideal spring conditions set the stage for a mild drought year with only a few summer heat spikes. Lower yields produced wines with intense aromatics and flavors and excellent aging potential.

2022: An early bud break and steady summer gave way to a heat spell in the first week of September, after which cooler weather allowed our hillside and south valley vineyards to recover. The wines show a broad spectrum of aromas and flavors.

2023: One of the longest growing seasons in over a decade, with cool weather and abundant sunshine that let grapes ripen slowly and reach perfect maturity. The extended hang time produced wines of stunning complexity and structure for long-term aging.

TASTING NOTES
2021
NOSE: Classic fruit notes of cassis, black cherry and plum are intermixed with notes of kirsch liqueur, anise, graphite, peppercorn, baking spices and dark earth.
PALATE: Youthful, concentrated, full-bodied flavors of blackberry and pomegranate join with impressions of cured meats, cedar and dark chocolate that evolve to a long, powerful finish.

2022
NOSE: Fresh fruit aromas of blackberry, boysenberry and red currant are mixed with aromas of nutmeg, violets and fig.
PALATE: Medium-full-bodied, bright, bold flavors of blackberry and dark cherry are complemented by notes of dark earth, anise and mocha.

2023
NOSE: Complex, ripe aromas of blackberry, cassis and raspberry preserves mixed with tobacco, dark earth, soy and tar.
PALATE: Medium-full-bodied, rich, mouth-coating flavors of blackberry, pomegranate and dark cherry are enhanced by notes of cocoa, savory meats and roasted coffee beans.
