Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay 2023
THE VINEYARD
One of Napa Valley’s most iconic Chardonnay vineyards, Hyde Vineyards was established in 1979 by Larry Hyde. Larry was an innovator at the time, planting a variety of clones and meticulously orienting row direction to suit the rolling hills of the Carneros AVA. Cool afternoon breezes from the Petaluma Gap create a long growing season here and grapes with exceptional character. Alpha Omega’s Chardonnay comes from the oldest Chardonnay block in the vineyard, originally planted in 1979 to the Old Wente clone.
THE VINTAGE
2023 is an exceptional vintage marked by one of the longest growing seasons in over a decade. Significant winter rains followed by a warm dry spring supported healthy canopy growth through bloom. Cooler weather throughout the rest of the growing season, aided by abundant sunshine, enabled grapes to ripen slowly and reach perfect maturity. Harvest for white grapes began in early September and the finished wines show remarkable freshness and purity combined with an ideal balance of acidity and fruit.
