VINTAGE NOTES
2023 is an exceptional vintage marked by one of the longest growing seasons in over a decade.Significant winter rains followed by a warm dry spring supported healthy canopy growththrough bloom. Cooler weather prevailed throughout the rest of the growing season aidedby abundant sunshine that enabled grapes to ripen slowly and reach perfect maturity. Thelong growing season and extended “hang time” for grapes has produced wines with stunning, complex flavors and the structure for long term aging.
VINEYARD SOURCES
The Right Bank of Bordeaux which includes the highly acclaimed St. Emilion and Pomerolgrowing regions is the inspiration for this wine, that typically contain more Merlot and CabernetFranc in their blends of classic Bordeaux varieties. Sourced primarily from our vineyards in St.Helena, Oak Knoll and Coombsville, this combination of up valley and down valley grapes createa forward engaging wine with a captivating array of flavors.
WINEMAKING
The 2023 Right Bank is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon with 28% Merlot,8% PetitVerdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. The wine was fermented in 70% French oak barriques with25% new barrels and 30% in stainless steel tanks and then aged for 18 months in French oakbarriques of which 30% were new.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE: Ripe, fragrant aromas of dark cherry and blueberry are enhanced by notes ofvanilla, dark earth, underbrush and new leather
PALATE: Medium bodied, ripe flavors of cherry, cranberry and cassis are mixed withdark chocolate, clove and freshly baked bread.
