Alpha Omega’s Robin Baggett Named Chair of Festival Napa Valley Board of Directors

As reported by the North Bay Business Journal on January 13, 2022.

At Alpha Omega, the belief that great wine and a thriving community are inseparable has guided everything we do since Robin and Michelle Baggett founded the winery on the Rutherford Bench in 2006. That conviction runs deeper than the vines. It shows up in the boardrooms, the concert halls, and the classrooms of Napa Valley. We are proud to share that Robin Baggett has been named Chair of the Festival Napa Valley Board of Directors, stepping into the role after nearly a decade of dedicated service to the organization.

A Leader Rooted in Napa Valley

Robin has served on the Festival Napa Valley board since 2013. He spent the previous three years as Vice Chairman. His elevation to Chair reflects not only his tenure, but the depth of his commitment to the performing arts and to the education programs that Festival Napa Valley makes possible for young people throughout the region.

Beyond Festival Napa Valley, Robin’s civic leadership spans a remarkable range of institutions. He currently serves on the board of the Wine Institute, the Land Trust of Napa County, First Tee-Monterey County, and the Cal Poly Athletic Director’s Council. He also recently served as Chair of the Napa Valley Vintners board of directors and continues as an adviser to that board. This breadth of service reflects a vintner who understands that the health of Napa Valley depends on stewardship far beyond the vineyard gate.

Why Festival Napa Valley Matters

Festival Napa Valley is one of the most celebrated performing arts events in the American West. Each July, more than 200 artists, wineries, resorts, theaters, restaurants, chefs, and vintners come together across ten extraordinary days. The 2022 edition is slated for July 15 through July 24. For Robin, chairing this organization is personal. Performing arts education gives young people access to something transformative. It builds the kind of community that makes Napa Valley worth protecting.

Joining Robin on the board are two remarkable new directors. Bella Oaks vintner Suzanne Deal Booth brings a distinguished record in heritage preservation and the visual arts, serving on the boards of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Menil Collection, and American Friends of the Centre Pompidou, among others. Additionally, arts advocate Romana Bracco, President of the Committee of Italians Residing Abroad, brings her extensive background in international arts and cultural leadership to the organization. Her current board service includes the San Francisco Opera and the Museo Italo Americano.

Philanthropy as a Way of Life at Alpha Omega

For Robin and Michelle Baggett, giving back is not a program or a press release. It is simply how they live and how they run this winery. Festival Napa Valley joins a constellation of causes the Baggetts support with genuine, sustained commitment. That constellation includes Auction Napa Valley, the V Foundation Wine Celebration for cancer research, Music in the Vineyards, and the Alpha Omega Season of Giving Toy Drive, which has brought more than 1,800 toys to children in need since 2017.

Moreover, the Baggetts’ approach to environmental stewardship reflects the same values. Alpha Omega is Napa Green certified for both land and winery, and the estate operates almost entirely on solar power. Caring for this valley means caring for all of it.

Wine Born from This Valley, Given Back to This Valley

Everything Alpha Omega does begins in the vineyard. Our handcrafted, terroir-driven wines draw from some of Napa Valley’s most celebrated sites, from the volcanic soils of Atlas Peak and the mountain ridges of Mount Veeder to the celebrated Rutherford Bench just outside our estate doors at 1155 Mee Lane. Head Winemaker Melissa Paris and Consulting Winemaker Andy Erickson bring extraordinary craft and precision to every vintage. The wines that carry the Alpha Omega name are an expression of this land at its finest.

That land is worth protecting. It is worth celebrating. It is worth handing down to the next generation in better shape than we found it. Robin’s leadership of Festival Napa Valley is one more expression of that belief.

Furthermore, the winery’s estate events calendar reflects this same spirit of celebration and community. From the Baggett Ranch Almost World-Famous BBQ to the Bounty of Harvest gathering, every event at Alpha Omega is designed to bring people together around something genuinely beautiful.

Visit Us on the Rutherford Bench

Alpha Omega is located at 1155 Mee Lane at Highway 29, just between Rutherford and St. Helena. The estate welcomes walk-ins when availability allows and is both dog-friendly and kid-friendly. Come for the wine. Stay for the views of the Mayacamas Mountains, the landmark fountains, and the tranquil pond that make this one of the most beloved estates in the valley.
