Alpha Omega Pledges Donation to Hurricane Relief Efforts
RUTHERFORD, Calif. — October 5, 2017
Alpha Omega, a family-owned winery in the Rutherford Bench of Napa Valley, today announced that it will donate 10% of its tasting room wine sales during the PGA Tour’s Safeway Open, taking place October 5 to 8 at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, to hurricane relief efforts.
Alpha Omega vintners Robin and Michelle Baggett’s humanitarian act was inspired by PGA Tour members Chesson Hadley and his wife, Amanda, and Scott Brown and his wife, Allison. The golfers, both former winners of the Puerto Rico Open, and their spouses joined forces to help raise funds and awareness for the people of Puerto Rico by donating a certain amount for every birdie and a higher amount for every eagle made during the Safeway Open to Samaritan’s Purse, a faith-based disaster relief agency that responded to Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Jose.
A Story of Faith and Generosity
“Our hearts go out to those affected by Hurricane Harvey, Irma, Maria and Jose. As we were struggling with the question of ‘How can we help those affected by the recent hurricanes?’ God blessed us with the answer during the PGA Tour’s Safeway Open in Napa. We met Chesson and Amanda this summer when they visited the winery. This week, we learned what he, Scott and their wives are doing to help those in Puerto Rico through Samaritan’s Purse and wanted to support their benevolence.”

“These two couples’ story of faith and their charitable hearts showed us the vehicle we desired to help these families who are suffering.”

The PGA Tour Connection
Hadley’s first victory on the PGA Tour was the 2014 Puerto Rico Open. Brown won the event in 2013. The Hadleys and Browns invited other PGA Tour players at the Safeway Open to join their efforts to assist those in Puerto Rico.
The 2017 Puerto Rico Open champion, D.A. Points, a friend of the Baggetts and an Alpha Omega fan, accepted the invitation. The Baggetts, who will donate 10% of tasting room wine sales for all four days of the tournament to Samaritan’s Purse, are encouraging their fellow vintners to do the same during the Safeway Open, the first tournament on the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup 2017-18 schedule.
