Cabernet Sauvignon Atlas Peak 2021
About This Wine
On the nose: An assertive nose featuring layers of red and black cherries accent notes of sagebrush, black peppercorn, Tahitian vanilla bean, and toasted corriander.
On the palate: A deep core of fresh raspberry and dark berry fruits mix with tarragon and volcanic earth, supported by balanced acidity that culminates in a powerful finish.
Our winemakers blended 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot to create this bold flavored, ageable wine. The wine was fermented in 50% French oak, 40% new and 60% two and three-year old-barriques and 50% in stainless steel tanks followed by aging for 18 months in French oak in the same barrel composition.
2018 was a dream growing season and harvest for Napa Valley. An abundance of rain in February was followed by continuous days of sunshine and mild temperatures that made for uniform vines and even cluster growth. With no major heat spikes to contend with, there was no need to rush through harvest. Cooler temperatures allowed us to pick when we wanted, without stress and under optimal conditions. The gift from Mother Nature translated to wines that not only have great concentration but also an amazing freshness.
